TOM BYRNE

Tom Byrne was born in Dublin in the 60’s.he studied fine art paintin… in colleges in dun laoghaire, Dublin and Berlin…

During his college years, Tom was included in the Independent Artists group, headed by Michael Kane  and Louis le Broquy  as  an associate member and exhibited regularly with them to critical acclaim.  Tom was a founding member of the famous  “Studio 16 “ Eustace st, Temple Bar, and  he is also a member of the Artist Association of Ireland.

On leaving college Tom found immediate success with exhibitions and TV appearances. His involvement in the punk movement lead to many album cover designs, along with punk fashion and street art murals in his very distinctive style

Tom now focus’s on  portraits and large abstracts pertaining to Irish history, culture  and spirituality…

His client base includes Gerald Keane, Louis Walsh Dara O’Briain, Kerri Russell, Elizabeth Banks, Alden Erhenreich, Mathew Rhys, Patrick Bergin, The Happy Pear, Emily O Donnell Johnny McEvoy, and many more social luminaries and modern art enthusiasts.

He also has  painting commissions from  the National Gallery of Vilnius Lithuania. And has  been commissioned by the Luan Municipal Gallery  in Athlone as part of their permanent collection as well as  the Doyle Collection,  Yeats Memorial Building, Sligo, The Lissadell House art collection, The Enniskerry Writers museum, The Seamus Heaney HomePlace  permanent exhibition in Magherafelt and many many history commissions for example the I.C.T.W.U  Lockout portraits and murals  contained in the recent history book on the subject and inclusions in other history books..and recently a major commission  for Iarnród Éireann.

Tom lives and works in Greystones, Co Wicklow with his two children
